Hello everyone! Finally, the sun
is hot, school's out, and we're all
getting ready for the fairs! You
know what that means... summer
is finally here! July is great not
only for picnics, bonfires, and
being with friends and family,
but also for ice cream! July is ice
cream month, so what better way
to get a serving of dairy than by
refreshing with a cold cone of
your favorite flavor of this
sweet treat? Dairy has the whole
package for a great summer
treat: it's refreshing, nutritious
with its 9 essential nutrients (like
riboflavin and potassium),
refuels your muscles and
strengthens your bones, and
tastes delicious, too! Also don't
forget milk's other great
products, like cheese and yogurt,
for a great source of protein
and calcium to brighten your
summer day. With all these
benefits, you can't afford to miss
out on getting your 3-A-Day of
dairy, every day! For a sweet
treat that's fun to make and eat,
try this easy recipe for homemade
ice cream!

Ice Cream in a Bag
1 t. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/4 t. vanilla
6 T. rock salt
1 Pint size ziplock bag
1 quart size ziplock bag
Ice

Fill the larger bag half full
with ice and add the salt. Put the

the small bag in the large one,
seal, and shake until the milk
becomes ice cream. Try adding
fruit or other toppings for
different flavors!
